I think we sometimes forget why we fell in love with chardonnay.  Through the years domesticly grown chardonnay has gone through a tremendous roller-coaster ride, stylistically.  Mass produced to heavely oaked "buttered popcorn" monsterous chards to half oaked/half stainless steal fermented, to the ever popular "unoaked" chardonnay.  Most Americans that drink chardonnay don't even really remember their first quality chardonnay, and consequently most people haven't found one they like... they just think they like it.

Davis Family Chardonnay from the Russian River appellation is not only a wine that true chardonnay drinkers will love, but will remind you of why you fell in love with this varietal in the first place.  I've even poured this for those that are either fed up with the "buttery" bombs, or don't even like chard in the first place, and the look on their face after one sip... well, it's eye-opening to say the least.  It's as if you can see it written on their face.  "WOW, I had no idea chardonnay could taste this good!!" Using French oak gives this wine a hint of spice without being "oaky," and the finish is creamy and long while still being clean and slightly crisp.  I love it!!

Schrick's Liquor in Weatherford or Central Market are just two places to pick this TRUE chardonnay up for around $35.
